Streets are more than a path for people and goods to get from A to B.
They are also public space - a place to relax, meet, and enjoy life. In fact, streets make up roughly one third of the public space in US cities.
But right now, most streets aren't that enjoyable for anyone...
Our goal is to make the streets safer and more enjoyable for everyone who uses them.
What makes a great street?
Imagine a street where you can -
Our plan is to make streets better for everyone. Here's how:
Street Rangers are community volunteers who step up to care for their local streets. Rangers can choose to work on whatever matters most to them - whether that's the safety of people who walk or ride, benches for people to relax, or sharing their ideas with local leaders.
We collect and share stories about what the street means to different people. When we see our streets through the eyes of others, we understand that streets are for everyone; and we can change our streets to be better for all.
A great street is more than just a place to put cars.
It's a space for people.
It belongs to the people.
Anyone who hopes for better streets can have a voice in how we build them.
