Our Street Celebrations in Philadelphia and Boise

A lot has happened at the National Street Service! Participants have been hard at work all Spring, getting a deeper understanding of their streets and how they feel for people, and discovering how to change their streets in ways that are meaningful for them. We saw participants get out of their comfort zones and try out new activities, furniture, and rules for their streets.

In Boise and Philadelphia volunteer teams recently hosted city-wide public parties to celebrate their streets. Both cities used multiple locations to create a city-wide feeling of street appreciation, demonstrating that human-centered streets are not just for downtowns. These incredible events connected attendees to their streets, to local organizations, and to each other.
